In deepest sympathy. We are so sorry for your loss.
SUDK UK does not directly provide bereavement support for families. This service is provided by the SUDC Foundation, who supports over 1000 families worldwide in eighteen countries. The SUDC Foundation is experienced in the unique challenges and unanswered questions that follow a sudden, unexpected and unexplained loss of a child. The founders of SUDC UK and so many other families from the UK have found strength and support in connecting with others who truely understand.
Please register with SUDC UK and the SUDC Foundation. The SUDC Foundation will then contact you regarding their professional and peer support services. They can also be reached on directly 001 973 795 1257. They are in the U.S. so afternoons after 2pm are the best time to call.
Families affected by the sudden unexpected death of a child can also visit The Good Grief Trust for targeted local and national support, advice and information.
SUDC UK has worked alongside other organisations to help produce an NHS information leaflet aimed at helping families understand some of the things that will happen soon after the death of a child and the support that is available: When a child dies – A guide for parents and carers.
The Lullaby Trust is a UK charity that supports families who have been affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a baby or young child. Working with the NHS, they run a national health-visitor led service for bereaved parents, Care of Next Infant (CONI) programme, which supports families before and after the birth of a new baby. This service can be offered to families who have had a young child die suddenly and unexpectedly. For further information please visit www.lullabytrust.org.uk.
