SUDC Research

Founded in 2017, SUDC UK has awarded £967,000 to medical research and continues to work tirelessly to help make SUDC predictable and preventable.

SUDC UK supports research in three ways:

• Awards medical research grants to fund excellent research. This is a core part of our mission and where we spend most of our funds.
• Leads and collaborates to drive engagement in SUDC research, optimise data collection and influence policy that impacts research.
• Family referrals to research projects to support individuals, improve care for bereaved families and prevent future sudden child deaths.

SUDC UK is proud to be an NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) Non-Commercial Partner. This means that the research studies we fund can benefit from national NHS research support, helping to recruit participants, access expertise, and run successfully. The partnership strengthens our ability to fund impactful research and brings us closer to our goal of improving understanding, support, and outcomes for families affected by sudden unexplained child death.

SUDC UK is a full member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and follows its best practice standards for expert review, ensuring that decisions on research funding are made in a fair and transparent way.
